FANTASTIC GROOVE FESTIVAL WEEKEND
Groove’s fifth festival took place last weekend, with the sun shining on Saturday before rain failed to dampen spirits on Sunday.
Killruddery took on a life of its own for the unforgettable festival.
Headliners on the main stage on Saturday were Primal Scream, support came from Hudson Taylor, Jerry Fish and Ireland’s newest music sensation Chasing Abbey. Over on the Sony Xperia Stage Daithi finished off the night. During the day the area was constantly filled for acts ranging from Katie Laffan to Farah Elle. The rain may have appeared on Sunday but that did not stop the fun. Ponchos were the fashion item of the day but the inclement weather didn’t deter festival goers and Killruddery was jam packed. Sunday main stage headliners UB40 had the crowd in rapture with the band playing many of their hits. Hothouse Flowers and Cry Before Dawn had the main stage crowds warmed up with stellar performances. Over on the Sony Xperia Stage John Smith stole the show on a day filled with the best of Irish new talent including Jack O’Rourke and Kind Bones. At Thrive, the festival’s wellness quarter, there were talks on wellness, health, parenting and modern living, as well as yoga and pilates classes. The Movement Stage was filled from the start of the day for yoga, pilates and movement classes. Food lovers also enjoyed the lineup of talks and demos at Groove, with top chefs and producers including Edward Hayden, Sunil Ghai and Oliver McCabe.
