Nun’s Cross Church, Ashford 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

As part of Heritage Week, explore a gothic revival 200-year-old church influenced by architect Francis Johnston, with connection­s to Roger Casement and JM Synge. This is a free event suitable for children.

GUIDED TOUR OF MOUNT USHER

Mount Usher Gardens, Ashford 10.30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Visitors to Mount Usher Gardens are welcome to avail of this free guided Heritage Week tour and understand how the gardens have been organicall­y managed for over 37 years. This tour is not suitable for children and must be booked in advance by calling 0404 40205 or emailing info@mountusher­gardens.ie. Normal admission charges of €7.50 per adult apply.

EXPLORE THE WILDLIFE

East Coast Nature Reserve, Newcastle 10.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m.

BirdWatch Ireland are opening the gates of its nature reserve this Heritage Week and inviting people on a free guided walk around the reserve. They will discover the wildlife, explore habitats and learn about the developmen­t and management of the reserve.

BIG HOUSE OF BRAY TOUR

Town Hall, Bray 11 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.

Join Bray Cualann Historical Society this Heritage Week to trace the history of ‘the big house’ on the Killarney Road in Bray. Featuring the likes of the Town Hall and St Fergal’s Church, some of these houses have now been replaced by housing estates. This is a free event suitable for children.

WILD CHILD NATURE TOUR

Hollywood Village Community Centre 11 a.m. to noon

Celebrate Heritage Week with Hollywood Tidy Towns, whose members will lead a fun walk around local habitats, pointing out common wild flowers and insects. A local wildlife expert will lead the group on this free nature adventure where everyone can explore. TOURS OF OLD BURIAL GROUND Old burial ground, Delgany 11.30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Organised by Laillí de Buitléar as part of Heritage Week, this guided tour will highlight the dome-shaped gravestone­s dating from 1712 to 1800 and which include fine examples of Elizabetha­n lettering. This free event is not suitable for children. BUGS, BEES AND POLLINATOR­S Easthill, Newtownmou­ntkennedy 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

As part of Heritage Week, Easthill Organic Farm is inviting people to come along and learn more about why bees, bugs and pollinator­s are vital and essential residents on the farm. A local beekeeper will shed light on the relationsh­ip between us and them and explain why they are so important. This free event is suitable for children.
