Race to the finish line

ROUNDWOOD was the setting for a Women’s Adventure Race featuring two runs, two cycles and a kayak section.

A 24km Adventure Duathlon was also held which featured the same course as the race, just without the kayak section.

The races were organised by Gaelforce Events and was created by women for women.

The starting point was at An Tochar GAA grounds and the adventure race took on the form of a 3km cycle, 10km run, 0.5km kayak and an 11km cycle. Competitor­s then ran the last short stretch from the bike drop to the finish line in at An Tochar GAA Club.

The first Over-40 competitor over the line in the adventure race was Eadoin McNamara with a finishing time of 1:35:48. The second placed Over-40 was Ava Williams, while Suzanne Behan was the third to finish. Anna Gleeson was the first senior to finish, followed by Aine McCabe and Claire Wynne. Brenda Kyle won the duathlon with a time of 1:44:28. Sharon Dodd was second and Belynda O’Gorman third.
