Past gallant Aughrim outfit

but he was finding himself too far away from goal to make an impact when he gathered. Then, just before half-time, it was Jordan Graham who again found himself through on goal after an error by Oisin Doyle and Andy Holt and he finished nicely to the back of the net.

This left it 2-10 to 0-03 at the break. Rathnew made a double change at half-time, bringing in Jason Devlin and Anthony Doyle. Rathnew started much the same as they finished with with Edward Doyle and Jordan Graham getting five points between them in the first 10 minutes.

It was Aughrim’s turn to make a a change and brought Patrick and William Byrne.

This change saw Willie Kavanagh being freed up as a third midfielder.

With the game as good as over, Aughrim kept pushing on with Patrick Phelan running off Lambert’s shoulder well and he put Keegan through who let fly a rasper only for it to come back off the crossbar.

The third midfielder wasn’t working for Aughrim as they had freed up Ross Quinn for Rathnew who has given the management something to think about by getting two points of his own.

The score of the day came from Andrew O’Brien who got the third of Rathnew’s goals with the keeper having no chance of getting to it as he stuck it in the top corner of the net.

Aughrim had got a goal of their own but it was a mere consulation at that stage of the game. It finished up at 3-20 to 1-09 to Rathnew .
