Roundwood Variety Group is holding their AGM on Tuesday, September 5, in parish centre at 8.30 p.m. all interested in getting involved are very welcome.

NEW MASS TIMES

Parish of St Laurence O’Toole – Weekend change of Mass times. Started on Saturday, September 2, Mass times will be as follows – Roundwood: 6 p.m., Laragh: 7 p.m. and Rathdrum: 8 p.m. and from Sunday, September 3, Mass times will be as follows Laragh: 10.30 a.m., Clara Vale: 9 a.m., Greenane: 10.15 a.m., Rathdrum: 11.30 a.m., Moneystown: 10 a.m. and Roundwood 11.30.

DIAMOND/002 BRIDGE

Yes it’s that time of the year again and the new Bridge seasons starts once more. Diamond Club restarts on Monday, September 4, in Roundwood Community Hall with play starting at 7.45.

Bridge in the 002 Club restarts on Friday, September 8, once again in Roundwood Community Hall with play starting at 9.45 a.m. All Grades catered for no partner required and new members and visitors always welcome. Any queries contact Triona 087 7630968 or Gaye 086 8746874.

YOGA

Yoga classes will resume in Roundwood Parish Centre on Thursday, September 14, 7.30P.M-9 p.m. Classes will include Asana-Physical stretches (flexibilit­y and strength), Pranayama-Breathing practices (energy flow) Yoga Nidra – Relaxation Meditation – Stillness Classes are open to all and cost euro 10 per class with a commitment of euro 50 due on first night. MUSIC IN CALARY

The Janet Ashe Memorial Concert will be held at 8 p.m. on Friday, September 8, in Calary Church, when Musici Ireland will play the two Brahms string sextets. As the last two concerts have been near sell outs, please book tickets even if you have to cancel them before the concert if you find you can’t make it.

Denis Healy’s Strictly for An Tóchar Fundraisin­g campaign kicks off with a fun table quiz on Friday, September 8, in Kavanagh’s Pub, starting at 8.30 sharp. Spot prizes, finger food and overall Winners Prizes. Raffle on the night. This is sure to be great fun so come along and enjoy the craic.

CATCHPHRAS­E PLUS – Maria Magee’s Strictly Fundraiser takes place next Friday, September 1, at 8 p.m. in Fannings Tochar House. This will be good fun. Say what you see. and Richie Cullen is kicking off his Strictly for An Tóchar campaign with an Irish Night/set dancing on Saturday, September 23, in Kavanaghs Lounge from 8.30 p.m. €5 admission. CAR BOOT SALE

The car boot sale at Roundwood Parish Hall takes place on the second Sunday of every month. Set up is at 10, begins at 12. Booking is essential, indoor stalls available. For queries or to book contact Ben at 087 9627527.

VARTRY WALKS

The current path developmen­t and tree care works are being carried out under the forest service neighbourw­ood grant scheme in conjunctio­n with vartry waterworks and Roundwood and district community council. The tree care work is required to make some trees safe and to promote the developing understore­y trees in the interest of long term woodland developmen­t. 2018 TOUR

A three star Algarve Coast and Country trip will take place on February 27, 2018, for seven nights which will include visits to Silves, Lagos, Sagres and Faro. The cost will be €429 per person sharing. This will include breakfast and dinner in the Hotel Da Aldeia, Albufeira and day excursions and a one 10kg bag. MEN’S SHED

John Akii Bua, exotic homegrown tomatoes with brown bread, Spanish onions, a donkey and cart from a hill over Tallaght, British Queens and carrots the length of your arm from Castlegreg­ory, carrots nearly the length of your arm from our own raised beds – these were some of the visitors to a recent shed gathering.

So please come along and join us any Tuesday from 10 a.m. onwards. John Akii Bua was not there in person but we remembered him with fondness. Feel free to call 086 8650588 any time for any shed informatio­n.

There was no jackpot winner in last week’s draw. The numbers drawn were 5, 11, 18 and 20-.. There were four matchthree winners, Kev Brady, Alfie Fanning, Martha Hill and George Byrne. Next week’s jackpot will be €13,900

MONEYSTOWN DANCE

The Wicklow Man will play in Moneystown Community Centre on Friday, September 8, from 9.30 till late. Tea served, refreshmen­ts available, door prizes. Come along and enjoy a night of waltzing, jive, etc.

ROUNDWOOD DANCE

The next dance in Roundwood Parish Centre will be on Friday, September 21, with dancing by the Wicklow Man.

45 CARD GAME

A 45 Card Game takes place every Tuesday night in Moneystown Community Centre starting at a new time of 8.30 p.m. Tea served.

MARKET

Roundwood Home Producers Market is open every Sunday from midday till 5 p.m. in the Parish Centre. Come for all your fresh bread, home baking, jams etc. There will also be pictures, home crafts, plants and more.

SET DANCING

Roundwood set dancing continues every Thursday night from 9 p.m. till 11 p.m. in Kavanagh’s Lounge, Roundwood. Music this month with the O’Kane family. Admission remains at €5. Beginners are always welcome along with anyone looking for a bit of exercise and a fun night out.
