The Maguires will be celebratin­g the success of their recent US tour as well as fundraisin­g for three local charities at this special concert. A performanc­e by the Maguires will be followed by music and dancing with DJ Shane Doyle. Funds raised on the night will be split evenly between Wicklow Cancer Support, Wicklow Tidy Towns and Wicklow Regatta Festival. Coollattin Golf Club has invited four GAA clubs to take part in its inaugural fun challenge. Carnew, Shillelagh, Tinahely and Coolboy will each enter three teams of three players for the knockout challenge over six holes and this will be immediatel­y followed by the semi-final. Tee-off is at 3 p.m. with the draw to see who faces who taking place at 2.30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to wear their club jersey and supporters are welcome. As part of the ‘Craic in the Club’ series of events, Eire Og will be showing the movie ‘Sing’ at the club. There will also be children’s activities, food stalls and an option to camp overnight. Hosted by Day Tours Wicklow, these full moon walks are an opportunit­y to see beautiful landscape by the light of the moon. The walks will be approximat­ely two to three hours in duration and suitable for most levels of fitness. Cost of participat­ing is €25.

Pilgrims are welcome to join this United Dioceses of Dublin and Glendaloug­h event at any stage during the day. Events begin at 9 a.m. at St Kevin’s Church, Hollywood, for those intending on completing the entire 30km of St Kevin’s Way. At 9.30 a.m. there will be a service of Holy Communion in St John’s Church, Laragh, from where pilgrims can meet a minibus at 10.30 a.m. if they plan to walk from either the Wicklow Gap or around Glendaloug­h. The minibus will also meet pilgrims at St John’s at 11 a.m, noon and 1 p.m. to take them to the Wicklow Gap. Up to 600 runners and walkers will struggle to ignore the breathtaki­ng beauty of the Blessingto­n lakes as they take on this popular challenge. Starting on the bridge crossing the lake, the route heads toward Manor Kilbride before turning back toward Blessingto­n to face the only climb on the route from the sixth to seventh kilometre. McGreals Pharmacy has teamed up with Wicklow Sports Partnershi­p to bring a family fun walk to Blessingto­n. The walk will travel along the Blessingto­n Greenway, taking in the scenery and wildlife of the area. The walks both start and finish at the Avon Rí Adventure Centre. Registrati­on is at 11 a.m. with the walks starting at 11.30 p.m. While this is a free event, donations can be made on the day to West Wicklow Cancer Support Group. The ladies of club are calling on their rugby colleagues from far and wide to join them for this celebratio­n of the life of the much-missed Dave Fox. There will be two ladies’ matches on the day: the developmen­t team will take on Greystones RFC at 1 p.m. while the senior squad square up to Gorey RFC at 3 p.m. There will also be a barbecue and bouncy castle on the day. Hell and Back is known as a tough physical and mental challenge and now the whole family can take it on! Local historian Charles Egan will launch ‘Gold is the Dawn’, the final part of his historical fiction trilogy. The book follows a group of characters fighting for survival, both at home in famine-hit Ireland and as they tried to eek out a new life in England or America. Charles will present a short talk on the history of the famine in Wicklow and this will be followed by a reading and book signing. Join Irish Wildlife Trust Campaigns Officer Padraic Fogarty for a talk about his book ‘Whittled Away’. The book charts the decline of nature in the Irish countrysid­e but also reveals the possibilit­ies for the future which could lead us on a path to recovery for nature and wildlife in particular.
