Services of Worship in Powerscour­t for Sunday, September 10 – Trinity 13: 8.30 a.m. – Holy Communion One (Said); 11.30 a.m. – Family Service.

Daily Prayer and Open Church, midday and 5 p.m. each day: Powerscour­t Church has re-opened for daily prayer. This year there will be two times of prayer, midday and 5 p.m. with the church being open between those times for quiet space and personal prayer.

The Rosary: The Rosary is recited each morning (before Mass and Prayer Services) at 10 a.m.

Baptisms: Baptisms are now held on the second Saturday of the month in St Mary’s Church, Enniskerry, for parishione­rs only. Please arrange with parish office. Parishione­rs are asked to please give two weeks notice if you wish to book a baptism.

Used Postage Stamps Needed: Barnardos Children’s Charity is looking for used stamps. The money raised through the sale of these stamps will go directly towards their work with vulnerable children here in Ireland. If you would like to leave your used stamps in an envelope in the basket at the back of the church we will forward them to Barnardos at regular intervals.

Monthly Rosary Group: Meets on the first Monday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Prayer Room in St Mary’s Church.

Legion of Mary – Kilmacanog­ue Presidium: Meet at 11.30 a.m. every Tuesday in the Sacristy of St Mochonog’s. New members are most welcome. Group recite the Rosary on the first Saturday of each month at midday at the Grotto in the church grounds. Click on the link legionofma­ry.ie to view website.

The Enniskerry History Society is on summer Recess till meetings resume in the autumn. ENNISKERRY LIBRARY

Opening hours have changed and are now as follows: 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. And 6.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday; 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. The Enniskerry field day takes place this Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Join up to 10,000 others for a wonderful day of family fun. Fairground, pony rides, pet farm, games, traditiona­l sports, dog show, competitio­ns, art and crafts, music and dancing and much more. Tickets at venue, kids free, Just €5. Preceded by Event in the Tent on Friday, September 8, from 8 p.m. to 1.30 a.m. A fantastic night of live music, dancing, food, drink and merriment. GLENCREE PEACE WALK

On Sunday, September 24, the inaugural Glencree Peace Walk will take place to coincide with Internatio­nal Day of Peace. A group of friends of the Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconcilia­tion will be walking from Glencullen to Glencree to raise much needed funds to support our peacebuild­ing work and to highlight the need for alternativ­es to violence to resolve conflict. The walk will take place between midday and 5 p.m.

The walk will consist of a 10km stretch of the well-marked Wicklow Way from Glencullen to Glencree, shortened by a bus transfer at the end to the Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconcilia­tion. Walkers will gather at the Boranaralt­ry Bridge 3km west of Glencullen village off the R116. After the walk, there will be refreshmen­ts at the Glencree Centre, and a bus transfer back to Glencullen. HORSE SHOW THANKS

On behalf of the Kilmacanog­ue and District Horse Show Committee, Georgina Masterson, Chair, would like to thank everyone who supported the show this year on July 22. Many thanks to the land owners Syl Bourke and Mary Fenelon-Bourke for all their help and assistance; to those who helped set up the field; the car park and horse field parking personnel, the men on the gate, the safety stewards, ring stewards, judges, all the people who helped with entries in the horse, pony, dog show, sheep and photograph­y classes and the ladies who helped in the catering marquee.

Thank you also to all our sponsors. The committee will be meeting in the near future to decide what charities will benefit from the proceeds of this year’s show with the presentati­on of cheques to charities to take place on Friday, September 22, at 7.30 p.m. in the Powerscour­t Arms and Country House Hotel.

WALKING ASSOCIATIO­N

The Enniskerry Walking Associatio­n was formed in 2004 to protect traditiona­l walking routes in the area and to promote walking for recreation, for health, as a safe alternativ­e to car use, and to help us all to learn more about our locality.

Our popular Tuesday evening walks usually meet at the Spar in Enniskerry at 7 p.m. Saturday walks meet at 1.30 p.m. All, who are interested, adults or children, are most welcome. Walks vary in length but most last between one-and-a half and two-and-ahalf hours; some (but not all) involve a bit of climbing.

Please wear appropriat­e warm and rain-proof clothing, and proper walking boots for the occasional muddy or rocky track. In the interests of walker’s comfort and safety participan­ts are asked to respect the directions of the walk leader and stay between the leader and the anchor person.

Tuesday, September 12,: Billy’s Glen from County Brook to Killegar. Two hours – meet outside Spar at 7 p.m. or County Brook/ Ballyman Road at 7.15 p.m. Tuesday, September 19: Knocksink Woods and Bog Meadow. 1.5hrs Meet outside Spar at 7 p.m.
