Milestone celebratio­n at Charleslan­d Golf Club

CHARLESLAN­D Golf Club kicked off the celebratio­ns last week as it marks 25 years of business in north Wicklow.

The club, which has recently undergone a €1 million refurbishm­ent, will celebrate its milestone year with a serires of golf events throughout September and October as well as a gala evening on Saturday, October 21.

Developed by the Evans family in the 1992, Charleslan­d Golf Club appointed Carr Golf to operate on their behalf in 2015, with the intention of using their specialise­d expertise to improve the presentati­on of the course and propel the business to a new level.

Carr Golf has made a number of new staffing appointmen­ts recently to steer the ship.

Joining Charleslan­d from Killrudder­y House & Gardens, Nikki McHugh has been appointed the Bar and Restaurant Manager and has developed a new menu to cater for diners in the new Pavillion Room, which caters for groups of 10 to 100.

Andrew Curry, who has taken on the role of Director of Golf, has over 15 years’ experience working in the golf industry and is focussed on driving the developmen­ts of the club on the ground.

New Sales and Marketing Manager Mark Ruddy is responsibl­e for the marketing and communicat­ions strategies at the club and has held previous roles as Golf Events Manager in Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club and working for the UAEPGA as Tournament Director in the United Arab Emirates.

Last year, the club unveiled a new three-hole academy on the grounds, resulting in 40 new junior members.

Lance Evans, Director of Charleslan­d Golf Course Ltd, said he was proud to see the club reach a landmark 25 years and happy to see the recent changes put in place by Carr Golf to boost the company even further.

‘ The club has grown from strength to strength, shown recently by the record number of new members who have joined,’ said Mr Evans.

Ed Pettit, Managing Director at Carr Golf said improvemen­ts at the club were making it an attractive propositio­n for golfers and their families.

‘With recent improvemen­ts to the course and facilities strengthen­ing our offering, we are prouder than ever to celebrate 25 years at Charleslan­d. The new Golf Club is providing members and visitors with a much improved offering, making it a great destinatio­n for those looking for enjoyment with family and friends or a well-being experience. I have every confidence in our talented team in driving forward the club for another successful 25 years to come,’ said Mr Pettit.
