Upgrade work at plant

-

AN €880,000 investment in Enniskerry Water Treatment Plant is under way by Irish Water.

The upgrade works will replace ageing equipment and both modernise and increase treatment efficiency at the plant, which was built in the early 1980s and needs to be brought in line with modern wastewater treatment processes.

The upgrade will include new inlet works, a new aeration system, new equipment which will reduce noise at the plant and a new odour control system. These works will help to improve the situation for those living in neighbouring properties who have been impacted by noise and odours in the past.

The works will also ensure the plant is compliant with EU Urban Wastewater Directives.

The Enniskerry project is expected to be completed in February.
