Cahill boxes clever on his pro debut
JAMES Cahill announced himself to the world of professional boxing in style tonight on Saturday evening.
The Kilmacanogue man made his pro debut as part of the ‘Celtic Clash 3: Building Champions’ event at the National Stadium in Dublin.
19-year old Cahill took on Polish fighter Tomasz Goluch who went into the fight with a record of four wins and nine losses.
Well, that record now stands at 10 losses as southpaw Cahill wowed the audience by pummelling his opponents in all four rounds.
In the first, Cahill withstood an early flurry from Goluch before taking control and leaving his opponent wobbling on his feet.
Cahill nearly landed a knockout in the second but couldn’t quite find the decisive blow.
The debutant finally floored his man in the third but yet again, the Pole summoned impressive resistance to deny Cahill a KO debut.
The fourth and final round was another game of cat and mouse that saw the bout handed over to the judges for their verdict and Cahill had his hand raised in glory on a scoreline of 40-35.
