ST ANNE’S PARISH

Resource Centre Hours: St Anne’s Resource Centre is open 9 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. Monday to Thursday and on Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those requiring Baptism/Confirmati­on certificat­es or applicatio­n forms for baptism can obtain them during the above hours. Please note that the parish office is the only place where certificat­es and applicatio­n forms can be processed.

Mass Times: Mass is celebrated in St Anne’s Church at 10 a.m. And 7.30 p.m. Monday to Friday (except July, August and September). Weekend Mass times are Saturday 6.30 p.m. Vigil Mass and on Sunday at 8 a.m., 10.30 a.m. (Family Mass), midday, and 6 p.m. Confession­s are heard on Saturdays after the 10 a.m. Mass, between 12.30 p.m. and 1 p.m., and after the 6.30 p.m. Mass. Mass is now broadcast online and can be viewed by logging onto the parish website: stannespar­ishshankil­l.com and then clicking onto video link.

Evening Mass: Please note that there will be No Evening Masses during this month. Evening Mass will resume on Monday, October 2, summer Weekday Church Hours: St Anne’s Church will close at the following times daily till October 1 – Monday to Thursday at 4.45 p.m. And on Friday at 2.45 p.m.

St Patrick’s Chapel, Loughlinst­own: The celebratio­n of the Sunday 9 a.m. Mass has now ceased in the Chapel and will resume when essential maintenanc­e has been completed.

Baptism Times: Baptisms take place in St Anne’s Church at 1 p.m. on the first Sunday of the month and at 5 p.m. on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. A month’s notice is required. Please contact the St Anne’s parish office located in St Anne’s Resource Centre to make your arrangemen­ts. Please note that when visiting the parish office to arrange a baptism, the child’s birth certificat­e should be brought as it necessary to photocopy it for the parish records but it will be returned immediatel­y.

Pre-Baptism Meetings: Pre-Baptism Meetings are held on the last Thursday of every month for parents presenting their children for baptism the following month.

Room Hire – St Anne’s Resource Centre: At present we have availabili­ty in the centre for room hire. If you are interested in running your class or course please contact Melissa Tobin at 01 2822777 for further informatio­n. Facilities include Free car park, tea or coffee, Use of whiteboard and projector, Flipchart Stands, three rooms available with capacity for 80 people, 25 people, or 15 people.

Crosscare: A collection for Crosscare will take place this Saturday and Sunday at all the Messes and will replace the weekly SHARE collection. Crosscare provides social, community and youth support services throughout the Dublin Archdioces­e and provides support to those affected by poverty.

Relics of St Thérèse and her parents: This Saturday the relics of St Thérèse and her parents, St Louis and St Zélie Martin, will be in Our Lady of Victories Church, Sallynoggi­n/Glenageary from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. All are welcome to come to venerate and to pray in the presence of the relics.

Christmas Fair 2017: The Parish Christmas Fair will take place on Sunday, December 3, This is our main fundraiser to provide for the maintenanc­e of our church. This year, we are appealing to any members of our congregati­on who may feel they can help with sponsorshi­p of the prize money. If you can help, please speak to Fr John, Martin Walsh or Pat Maguire. Thank You for all your support.

Parent and Toddler Group in St Anne’s Resource Centre: Every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to midday – €4 for parent and child (including tea or coffee and biscuits). Training/Refresher Course: For Ministers of the Word and Extraordin­ary Ministers of Holy Communion will take place on October 4 at 8 p.m. in the church.

Ministers of the Word: We are urgently seeking new Ministers of the Word. Please contact the parish office soon, if you would like to be included on the rota for the coming months.

Shankill SARA Art Group: This small art group meets on a Thursday morning to paint and exchange ideas. We are looking for new members to join the group. This will enable us to employ an art teacher who will support and encourage us in our work. So, if you enjoy painting in any medium and would like to join a group of like-minded people, please get in touch with Madelon Geoghegan at 086 3487516. A warm welcome awaits you. St Anne’s Parish Pastoral Council: The September Parish Pastoral Council Meeting took place last Monday in St Anne’s Resource Centre at 8 p.m. New ideas and suggestion­s for our parish are always welcome and may be placed in the Suggestion­s Box at the end of the church or emailed to st.annes_parishoffi­ce@yahoo.ie.

Wednesday Prayer Meetings: Resumed last Wednesday night from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. in St Anne’s Resource Centre. If you would like to join the prayer group, please leave your name and phone number in the parish office.

Hospitalit­y: Hospitalit­y after the 10.30 a.m. Mass on the second and fourth Sunday of the month has ceased and will resume on the last Sunday of September.

Monthly Film Night: The next Film Night takes place at 8 p.m. on Saturday, September 30, in St Anne’s Resource Centre when the film being screened with be Rogers and Hammerstei­n’s ‘South Pacific’ starring Rossano Brazzi, Mitzi Gaynor, John Kerr and France Nuyen. All welcome – admission free.

Male Voice Choir: We are currently recruiting a new choir in St St Anne’s. This choir is aimed at retired gentlemen of Shankill – we are also looking for musicians. Launching in December this year at the Christmas Carol Service. Rehearsals will take place during late September, October and November on Thursdays from 11.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. in the church. Free tea or coffee will be available after the 10.30 a.m. Mass on Thursday prior to rehearsal. TIDY TOWNS

Help Shankill Tidy Towns keep the village looking well. We need volunteers to water plants on a rota once a fortnight. We also need people to do litter picking in their own area. BOOK SALE

The October First Saturday Book Sale will take place between 10 a.m. And 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, in the Shankill Old Folks Associatio­n Day Centre, so make a point of calling into the book sale that Saturday morning and avail of the opportunit­y to pick up some excellent reading material for the autumn.

Donations of books which must be in a good and clean condition, other than school/text books, will be accepted on the day. Photograph­s and memorial cards found in donated books can be collected at the book sale. Supporting the First Saturday Book Sale supports the Shankill Community.

SHANKILL LIBRARY

Opening hours for Shankill Library are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. And from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays and on alternate Fridays and Saturdays. The library is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. The library will be open this Friday but closed on Saturday. HISTORICAL SOCIETY

Monthly meetings the Rathmichae­l Historical Society, the local history society for Shankill, Ballybrack, and the surroundin­g area, in Rathmichae­l School will resume at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4, in Rathmichae­l School, Stonebridg­e with a lecture by Finbar Dwyer on ‘ The Black Death in the Dublin Region’.

ICA GUILD

The guild meets on the second Monday of the month at 3.30 p.m. in St Anne’s Resource Centre. Craft Morning takes place in St Anne’s Resource Centre on Tuesday mornings from 10.30 a.m. And 12.30 p.m. Culture outings are held at different times throughout the year.

SHANKILL GAA CLUB

It was brilliant to see so many new boys and girls at our Academy last Saturday week morning and there is plenty of room for many more. The academy for both boys and girls, from four to six years of age is in action every Saturday morning from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Shanganagh Castle. The cost is only €2 per child and there is no annual subscripti­on. Qualified coaches are always in attendance and all equipment is supplied free of charge. So why not come along any Saturday morning and give the Academy a try.

Action last Saturday week saw our under-nine and under-10 boys’ football teams travel to St Kevin’s – Killians while in the afternoon the under-13 girls were away to St Sylvester’s in what was three cracking matches. On Sunday week morning in the rain the camogie under-nine team made the short trip to Geraldine P. Moran’s where a great match ensued.

There will be a Foundation course for new coaches on Friday, September 24, and Friday, October 2, Steve Davis at 087 6414123 has the details.
