Search on for next junior entrepreneur

-

THE budding Michael O’Learys and Norah Caseys of the future have a chance to combine their school curriculum with the world of business as the search for Wicklow’s next junior entrepreneurs begins.

The Junior Entrepreneur Programme is open to fifth and sixth class primary school pupils and helps children to develop existing skills, such as literacy and numeracy, as well as new skills, such as problem solving, technology, communication, team building, confidence and creative thinking.

Schools the length and breadth of County Wicklow took part in the Junior Entrepreneur Programme last year, including St Laurence’s NS and St Kevin’s NS in Greystones, Scoil San Eoin in Redcross, Donard NS, St Brigid’s NS in Blessington, Kilcommon NS in Tinahely, Scoil Chaoimhin Naofa in Glendalough and Our Lady’s NS in Rathdrum.

Close to 40,000 children have participated in the programme since its inception in 2010. It has been developed and supported by entrepreneur Jerry Kennelly of Tweak.com and some of Irelands other leading entrepreneurs, including Bill Walsh of Aspire Tecnology.

The 12 to 16 week programme is available free of charge.

Applications are currently being accepted for inclusion in the next Junior Entrepreneur Programme, which starts this month. Further details are available on www.juniorentrepreneur.ie or by calling the JEP office on 066 7169553.
