The autumn programme of the Bray Cualann Historical Society commences at 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 21, in the Royal Hotel on Main Street, Bray, at which Neal Doherty will present his lecture ‘The Streets of Dublin.’

The story of Dublin can be explored through its streets and public spaces. From the Vikings onwards, the city streets were shaped by abbeys, churches, developers, viceroys, local heroes and villains, tradespeople, playwrights, poets, writers and many more. In his lecture Neil Doherty will unveil the hidden history behind many of Dublin’s streets, lanes, alleys and public parks. The lecture will explores not just the origins of the street names, but also the architecture, the events and the people that shaped and reshaped the streets people walk on every day.

All welcome to attend this lectures - members go free while there is a €5 charge for visitors.
