Impressive Newtown United racked up an emphatic away win on Sunday, overcoming shellshocked Ashford Rovers 6-1.

The fired-up Magpies raced into a 2-0 lead inside the opening 15 minutes with Dillon Carthy showing his predatory instincts with an early double.

Things got even better for the visitors, with two goals from Martin Wiliams, one a spectacular longrange effort, seeing them build up a 4-0 advantage ten minutes before the break.

Ashford pulled a goal back from a Danny Byrne free-kick in the second-half, but Newtown reasserted their dominance, with Carthy completing his hat-trick and debutant Lorcan Kenna putting the icing on the cake.

St Peter’s FC got three points on the board as they edged out Dynamo Dublin by the odd goal in five.

Ross O’Brien helped himself to a double, with Jamie Kelly also hitting the back of the net for the winners.

Elsewhere, Locomotive won 3-1 away to Park Orient.

Pat O’Toole Division 1B

A goal from Andy Doyle earned St Patrick’s a share of the spoils as they drew 1-1 with Templeogue in their Pat O’Toole Division 1B clash on Sunday.

Unfortunately the game between Arklow United and Greystones United had to be abandoned after 79 minutes due to a serious injury to Oisin Keogh, with the Arklow side leading 2-1.

The Greystones player had to be airlifted to hospital by helicopter and everybody wishes Oisin a speedy recovery.

Division 3

Conary United came out on the right side of a five-goal thriller in an exciting Division 3 encounter on Sunday.

Eoin Murtagh, Davie Doran and Jimmy Davis got the goals for the winners in their 3-2 victory.

Elsewhere, Arklow United B and Ballywaltrim drew 2-2, with Tom Cowan and Ross O’Brien scoring for the latter.

Arklow Celtic overwhelmed Avonmore FC 5-0 thanks to a Dean Doyle double and goals from Gary McLoughlin, Niall McDonald and Wayne Kenny and Carnew AFC edged out Aughrim Rangers 2-1 (see focus match).

John Tobin Youth League

A superb performance from Ashford Rovers saw them net a magnificent seven without reply as they proved much too good for Arklow United in the John Tobin Youth League.

Ryan Beale contributed a double, with Ruadhán Fallon-Verbruggen, Oisin Hill, Nathan Doyle, Tristan O’Toole and Kian Marah all adding a goal apiece.

Oisin McGraynor was the hattrick hero for Avonmore FC in their 3-0 win over Aughrim Rangers, while Wicklow Rovers A won 2-1 away to Arklow Town (see focus match).
