Arklow lads make step up

-

ARKLOW’S under-13s played their first game of the season last Saturday at home against Carlow in the southeast league in perfect condition to play rugby. This was the first time for this Arklow team to play full 15-a-side rugby on the full size pitch having made the transition from minis rugby from last season.

Credit must be given to this Arklow team with four players playing their first game of rugby the team held their shape well and their scrum never gave an inch against a big Carlow pack.

Arklow competed well with some great tackling and some fine breaks by their backs, but unfortunately the result was not to be for Arklow and Carlow won out in the end.

This team will have learned so much from their first game and looking forward to traveling to their near neighbors Gorey for their next league encounter this Saturday.

With fully qualified coaching staff Arklow RFC are always looking for new players to play in a friendly safe environment, with minis playing every Saturday morning from 10.30am and youths Tuesday and Thursday nights at 7.30. Contact Keith on 086 8122820.
