Search on for best young entreprene­ur in Wicklow

MORE young entreprene­urs from Wicklow are being sought for Ireland’s Best Young Entreprene­ur (IBYE) competitio­n.

Sheelagh Daly from Local Enterprise Office Wicklow is calling on more young entreprene­urs with start-up ideas or existing businesses to enter this year’s IBYE competitio­n before the deadline of September 29,

‘If you’re aged between 18 and 35, or know someone who is, we’re looking for more young entreprene­urs to enter this year’s IBYE competitio­n to represent the county. We have free training for all applicants, a €50,000 investment fund be shared by up to six local winners and lots of places to be won on Business Bootcamps later this year,’ sad Ms Daly.

Last year’s winners included Ken and Janet Carey, Discount Supplement of Kilcoole, Shane Bonner of Newmarket Kitchens Bray and Cathal O ‘Sullivan of Game X in Greystones.

Speaking about his IBYE experience, Shane Bonner from Newmarket Kitchen said: ‘ the IBYE competitio­n is an excellent opportunit­y to network with other young entreprene­urs and to learn from them and with them. Participat­ing in Ireland’s Best Young Entreprene­ur Competitio­n is an fantastic experience which will benefit your business

All Applicants will be invited to a Free Enterprise Training day on October 28 and of those who enter IBYE in Wicklow, 15 finalists will be invited to participat­e in an intensive Business Bootcamp on November 10 and 11 to help them further develop their business ideas and management skills. Now in its fourth year, Ireland’s Best Young Entreprene­ur is run by the 31 LEOs across the country and is supported by the Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation and Enterprise Ireland.

The three competitio­n categories are ‘Best Business Idea’, ‘Best Start-Up Business’ and ‘Best Establishe­d Business’.
