MUSIC IN CALARY

The last concert in this year’s Music in Calary series will be held in Calary Church at 8 p.m. on Friday, October 6, when the wonderful classical guitarist Red- mond O’Toole will play Bach’s Cello Suite No one (arranged for guitar) together with works by Mertz, Albeniz, Tedesco, Ian Wilson and Domeniconi. IRISH MUSIC CLASSES

Learn traditiona­l Irish music and dance with an award-winning Comhaltas branch (guitar, fiddle, flute, tin whistle and grúpa ceoil). Classes are held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday nights in St Laurence O’Toole NS, Roundwood – the first term is from September to January while the second term is from January to May. BRIDGE CLUBS

Sunday, September 24, sees Anne-Marie Morriss (Nolan) kick starting her fundraisin­g for An Tochar Strictly by holding a Bridge afternoon in Roundwood Community Centre starting at 3.30 p.m. Entry €10 including raffle and tea or coffee. All grades welcome and no partner required.

NEW MASS TIMES

Parish of St Laurence O’Toole – Weekend change of Mass times. Started on Saturday, September 2, Mass times will be as follows – Roundwood: 6 p.m., Laragh: 7 p.m. And Rathdrum: 8 p.m. and from Sunday, September 3, Mass times will be as follows – Laragh: 10.30 a.m., Clara Vale: 9 a.m., Greenane: 10.15 a.m., Rathdrum: 11.30 a.m., Moneystown: 10 a.m. and Roundwood 11.30.

YOGA

Yoga classes will resume in Roundwood Parish Centre on Thursday, September 14, 7.30P.M-9 p.m. Classes will include Asana-Physical stretches (flexibilit­y and strength), Pranayama-Breathing practices (energy flow) Yoga Nidra – Relaxation Meditation – Stillness Classes are open to all and cost euro 10 per class with a commitment of euro 50 due on first night. MASS OF THE ANGELS

Our annual Mass of the Angels Remembranc­e will be on Saturday, October 7, at 6 p.m. in Roundwood Church. This special Mass will be for the parents and families of babies who died before birth, at birth, or in infancy, and for those who died in early childhood, youth and young adulthood either in recent years or in the past.

WALKING CLUB

The Roundwood Whizzers Walking Group are back in action every Wednesday evening meeting at 7 p.m. at the Coach House car park. Everyone welcome to walk at your own pace for approximat­ely one hour in and around Roundwood village.

CAR BOOT

The car boot sale at Roundwood Parish Hall takes place on the second Sunday of every month. Set up is at 10, begins at 12. Booking is essential, indoor stalls available. For queries or to book contact Ben at 087 9627527.

VARTRY WALKS

The current path developmen­t and tree care works are being carried out under the forest service neighbourw­ood grant scheme in conjunctio­n with vartry waterworks and Roundwood and district community council. The tree care work is required to make some trees safe and to promote the developing understore­y trees in the interest of long term woodland developmen­t. A 45 Card Game takes place every Tuesday night in Moneystown Community Centre starting at a new time of 8.30 p.m. Tea served.

SET DANCING

Roundwood set dancing continues every Thursday night from 9 p.m. till 11 p.m. in Kavanagh’s Lounge, Roundwood. Music this month with the O’Kane family. Admission remains at €5. Beginners are always welcome along with anyone looking for a bit of exercise and a fun night out.

HOME PRODUCERS MARKET

Roundwood Home Producers Market is open every Sunday from midday till 5 p.m. in the Parish Centre. Come for all your fresh bread, home baking, jams etc. There will also be pictures, home crafts, plants and more. We look forward to seeing you all. New members always welcome.

MEN’S SHED

It is First Anniversar­y time for the Shed – how time flies. We plan to hold our very first annual general meeting in the Parish Hall in Roundwood on Tuesday, October 10, at 8 p.m. The venue and time will hopefully suit the maximum number of our members and all of you readers who may be interested in the Shed. We continue to meet on Tuesdays at Pat Carr’s place in Knockrahee­n from 10 a.m. onwards. Please feel free to come along and join in the fun.
