Avoca ICA Guild will hold a cake sale in aid of Mary Treacy’s Moldova Project on Sunday, October 1, in the Community Hall Avoca at 11.30 a.m. Come along for some delicious baking and support this most deserving cause.

FARM FAMILY COMMITTEE

A meeting of the County Wicklow IFA Farm Family Committee will take place on Tuesday, September 26, in the Woodenbrid­ge Hotel at 8 p.m.

Our speaker this month is Keith Symes of Wicklow Rapeseed Oils, who has now brought a new product Sussed to the market. This is a product which may benefit our heart health and we look forward to hearing him speak.

We extend a warm welcome to all IFA members and their families. There is a cup of tea or coffee after the meeting where people can have a chat and get to know one another. Why not come along and enjoy the evening.

The Conary Church Committee would like to thank all those who supported and attended their Harvest Thanksgivi­ng Service, which was held on Sunday, September 3, at 7.30 p.m. in St Bartholome­w’s Church Conary. The Preacher was Canon Mark Hayden from Christ Church Gorey.

BRING AND BUY SALE

The annual Bring and Buy Sale in aid of the Three Graveyards of Kilmagig, New bridge and Old Castle macadam, will be held on Saturday, September 30, at 2 p.m. in Conary Parish Hall. Items for the sale and auction would be very welcome.

HARVEST THANKSGIVI­NG

The Harvest Thanksgivi­ng Service for castle macadam parish, will be held this Sunday, September 24, at 3 p.m. in Holy Trinity Church, castle macadam. Preacher will be the Revd Ian Gallagher Rector of Stillorgan, St Brigid’s Choir wil.l be present also. May Byrne House on last Tuesday morning where €825 was raised for the benefit of the Local Hospice Group. The committee would like to sincerely thank everyone who brought saleable items and supported the raffle for the outstandin­g success of the event.

TIDY TOWNS

The Tidy Towns Results are expected to be announced in the next week or two and the group is forward to a high mark this year. Please help to keep our village clean by helping to pick up all litter which may be blowing around.

Congratula­tions to Eimear Roche, Glenview, Thomastown, who celebrates her 21st birthday today, Tuesday, September 19. Good wishes also to Ryan Boland, Long Lane, who celebrates his birthday tomorrow, Wednesday, September 20.

There was no winner of the lottery this past week, the jackpot currently stands at €12,100, lotto tickets are available locally at €2 in Shorts, Coolgreany post office, O’Rafferty’s and Liam Clare. A new prize format is now in now in place, with no match 3’s, No Bonus Numbers, instead there is now seven lucky Dips worth €30 each, and one seller’s prize. Your support is very much appreciate­d by the club.

The Coolgreany players were representi­ng their county last weekend in the 60x30 Leinster Finals. In Boys under-12s singles, Conor Horan, Coolgreany and Wexford defeated Michael Brennan, Kilkenny, in the under-13 Singles, Harry Delaney (Kilkenny) was victorious over Miley Connors, Coolgreany and Wexford. In Boys’ under-12 Doubles Shane Kehoe/John Connors, Coolgreany and Wexford defeated Cian Blackburn/James Jordon of Meath. In under-17 Doubles Robert Cogley/Ciaran Power, Coolgreany and Wexford were victorious over Jimmy Cooke/ Finn Dempsey (Offaly). Congratula­tions to Conor, Ciaran and John, who are all Leinster Champions.

In Ladies under-16 Doubles Noelle Dowling/Róisín O’Keeffe (Kilkenny) defeated Cliodhna O’Connell/Leanne Boland (Coolgreany and Wexford) while in under-17 Doubles Clodagh White/ Lucia Merrigan (Wexford) Leinster Nominated. A massive well done to all for representi­ng their Clubs and county.
