Jazz and comedy night for Uganda

-

‘Jazzin’ it Up for Uganda’ at the Whale Theatre in Greystones next month will mix comedy and jazz for an evening of music, laughter and giving. The show will take place on Friday, October 27 at 8 p.m.

On the laughter front, the duo ‘ The Dirt Birds’ with Sue Collins and Sinead Culbert will let the one-liners and the handbags fly as they put the world to rights.

Acclaimed singer Carmel McCreagh will perform her own particular take on some much-loved jazz standards, along with the renowned Fiachra Trench on piano. Fiachra has worked with everyone from Van Morrison to The Coors.

The most important aspect of the night though is Uganda, as organisers and guests raise money for The Jinja Pregnancy Care Centre and The Jacobsens’ Mercy Fund, which focuses on keeping the family unit together and funding unsupported emergency medical cases.

Carolyn left Wicklow in 1984, and today, along with her husband Bob, the couple devote their new lives in Uganda to giving orphaned children a chance of a better life.

Tickets are €35 to include a welcome drink and appetisers.

Carolyn and Bob will share their experiences from the Mercy Mission. Doors to the event open at 7 p.m.
