Top jumping in Ashford!

St Gerard’s host competition

-

ST. GERARD’S SCHOOL were very lucky to have a dry, if somewhat chilly day for their showjumping competition on Saturday, September 16, in Boswell Equestrian Centre, Ashford.

Nine Open teams and seven Novice teams competed for the St. Gerard’s coveted trophies. In the open competition there were seven teams that got into the jump off.

Only two of these teams had both of their jump off riders go clear; ‘Borris Vocational Wine Team’ – with Catherine Kavanagh and Aoife Murphy going clear and ‘St. Gerard’s Blue Team’ – Mark Finnerty and Natasha Bernon both having clear rounds. But in the end ‘Borris Vocational’ had faster times and won by a very close and nail biting 3.18 seconds.

There was no jump off in the novice competition and it was won by ‘Gorey Community Red Team’; Beibhinn O’Brien, Eimear Ni Chinneide, April Haxby and Abby Spencer.

This year, O’Reilly’s Auction Rooms, 126 Frances Street, in Dublin, sponsored the team prizes and both the Open and Novice teams were presented with lovely rugs with the O’Reilly’s logo on the side.

The winners also received very generous TRI vouchers. St. Gerard’s school would like to extend a huge thank you to O’Reilly’s Auction Rooms and to TRI for sponsoring their event.
