Worried about son on Bosnia front-line

A BRAY mother this week spoke of her nightly worry for the safety of her French Foreign Legion son on the front line in Bosnia.

With United Nations decision to bomb the Bosnian Serbs raising the military stakes in the former Yugoslavia, anxious Eileen Boughton of Fassaroe has more than ever been following media reports from the war zone.

Eileen and her family have been glued to their television ever since her 21-year-old Legionnair­e son Jason began active duty in Bosnia earlier in the summer.

‘I am really worried about him. I get a letter from Jason every fortnight, but I try to get as many extra details as I can from the television, radio and newspapers,’ she said.

In spite of her concern, Eileen fully backs the United Nations and NATO decision over the past week to launch air strikes against Bosnian Serb positions around Sarajevo.
