KILCOOLE EXPO 2017

Showcase your business at Kilcoole Community Centre this Sunday, October 1. Contact Kilcoole Community Centre to book a place (details below). Open to the public from midday till 5.00 p.m. Everyone welcome to come along to this great community event.

COMMUNITY CENTRE

The centre is available for bookings (e.g. classes, meetings, birthday parties). Bookings can be made via email kilcoolecc@gmail.com or by phone 01 2872017. The office is open on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3.15 p.m. And is closed for lunch between 12.30 p.m and 1.15 p.m.

INDOOR BOWLS

Bowls takes place every Tuesday evening at 8 p.m. in St Patrick’s/Forrester’s Hall. New members are welcome.

PARENT/TODDLER GROUP

All are welcome to come along to the parent and toddler group at the community centre from 10.30 p.m. to midday every Wednesday. €2 per child.

BINGO

Bingo is held on Monday nights in St Patrick’s Hall at 8 p.m. Everybody is welcome.

This special Mass will be for the parents and families of babies who died before birth, at birth, or in infancy, and for those who died in early childhood, youth and young adulthood either in recent years or in the past. We extend a very warm welcome to all parents, families, relatives and friends who have suffered such a loss.

MATHS LESSONS

Rebecca Delamere will be running maths classes for Secondary School students in Roundwood Parish Hall. Classes will be available for first to sixth year students and are designed to focus on common areas that students struggle with. Guaranteed small class sizes and places are limited. WALKING CLUB

The Roundwood Whizzers Walking Group are back in action every Wednesday evening meeting at 7 p.m. at the Coach House car park. Everyone welcome to walk at your own pace for approximat­ely one hour in and around Roundwood village.

002 BRIDGE CLUB

In the Howell competitio­n on Friday, September 15, Rowena Brady and Noeleen Redmond took first place, Monica Brady and June Digby were second and joint third/fourth were Paddy O’Brien and Ger Lenihan and Maura Gaskin and Bridie Nolan.

North/South winners on September 22 were Noeleen Redmond and Margaret Bolger, second Elizabeth Belton and Philomena Kenna and June 3 Digby and Monica Brady. Ger Lenihan, Paddy O’Brien, Séamus Kennedy and Maria Magee shared first/second for East/West while Jane Cronin and Gertie fee were third.

LOTTO RESULTS

IRISH MUSIC CLASSES

Learn traditiona­l Irish music and dance with an award-winning Comhaltas branch (guitar, fiddle, flute, tin whistle and grúpa ceoil). MENS SHED

It is First Anniversar­y time for the Shed – how time flies. We plan to hold our very first annual general meeting in the Parish Hall in Roundwood on Tuesday, October 10, at 8 p.m. The venue and time will hopefully suit the maximum number of our members and all of you readers who may be interested in the Shed. We continue to meet on Tuesdays at Pat Carr’s place in Knockrahee­n from 10 a.m. onwards. Please feel free to come along and join in the fun.

DIAMOND BRIDGE CLUB

Playing their cards right for North/South on Monday, September 11, were Nancy O’Brien and Gertie Fee, second Maura Gaskin and Kay Plunkett, third Séamus Kennedy and Catherine Halligan. East/West winners were Ger Lenihan and Paddy O’Brien, second John Loscher and Margaret Byrne, and third Monica Brady and Bridie Nolan.

Monica Brady continued her winning form on Monday, Sep- tember 18, with partner Kay Plunkett, second Mary Pierce and Margaret Byrne, and third Ger Lenihan and Paddy O’Brien. East West victors were Maura Gaskin and Clare Sally, second Marie Kavanagh and Triona Woodroofe and third Teresa Leahy and Marian Davies.

MONEYSTOWN DANCE

The Wicklow Man will play in Moneystown Community Centre on Friday, October 13, from 9.30 p.m. till 12. Tea served, refreshmen­ts also available, door prizes. Come along and enjoy a night of waltzing, jive, etc.

CAR BOOT

VARTRY WALKS

The current path developmen­t and tree care works are being carried out under the forest service neighbourw­ood grant scheme in conjunctio­n with vartry waterworks and Roundwood and district community council. The tree care work is required to make some trees safe and to promote the developing understore­y trees in the interest of long term woodland developmen­t. 2018 TOUR

A three star Algarve Coast and Country trip will take place on February 27, 2018, for seven nights which will include visits to Silves, Lagos, Sagres and Faro. Roundwood set dancing continues every Thursday night from 9 p.m. till 11 p.m. in Kavanagh’s Lounge, Roundwood. Music this month with the O’Kane family. Admission remains at €5. Beginners are always welcome along with anyone looking for a bit of exercise and a fun night out.

Parish of St Laurence O’Toole – Weekend change of Mass times. Started on Saturday, September 2, Mass times will be as follows – Roundwood: 6 p.m., Laragh: 7 p.m. And Rathdrum: 8 p.m. and from Sunday, September 3, Mass times will be as follows Laragh: 10.30 a.m., Clara Vale: 9 a.m., Greenane: 10.15 a.m., Rathdrum: 11.30 a.m., Moneystown: 10 a.m. and Roundwood 11.30.

MARKET

Roundwood Home Producers Market is open every Sunday from midday till 5 p.m. in the Parish Centre. Come for all your fresh bread, home baking, jams etc. There will also be pictures, home crafts, plants and more. We look forward to seeing you all. New members always welcome.
