Update on path and road works
LOW cost safety improvement works have been completed at the junction of Church Lane and Church Road, members heard at last Tuesday’s monthly meeting of Greystones Municipal District.
This included the narrowing of the junction and reduction in junction kerb radii to slow traffic exiting Church Road onto Church Lane.
The works also included reducing the width of the junction for pedestrians to cross walking along Church Road.
There was also footpath widening on Church lane outside the church.
The work got under way in July and was completed in September.
Draft agreements have been drawn up for the Chapel Road footpath improvement scheme.
The roads section met with three relevant landowners during the summer to arrange agreement for this National Transport Authority scheme.
Other footpath improvements around the district include 100 meters at Vitoria Road, completed in May.
Works to 97 metres at Applewood Heights began in May and are ongoing.
Footpaths at Church Lane in Greystones, Creowen Road in Kilcoole and Hazelwood Crescent in Kilcoole were completed in September.
Works yet to start include 75 metres from Bow Lane to Eden Road in Greystones, 120 metres from Dromont to Kindlestown Heights in Delgany and 40 metres on the R761 in Killincarrig.
Road reconstruction was completed at Templecarrig Road and Bellevue Hill during September.
Road resurfacing and footpath improvement works started at Hillside Road in September. These were all under the road improvement and road maintenance grant schemes.
Earlier works under the grants included patching failed areas in Kilcoole and Kindlestown. Resurfacing is planned for Mill Road at three locations.
Meanwhile, a landscaper was procured to prepare a schedule of works and bill of quantities for tendering purposes for the relandscaping of the Charlesland Dual Carriageway roundabouts. The documents have been prepared.
