Calls to restrict camper vans along Marine Road

-

COUNCILLORS have called for parking bye laws to be changed to limit camper vans. This arose as a notice of motion from Cllr Derek Mitchell and Cllr Grainne McLoughlin.

‘ The parking by laws should be changed on Marine Road to ban camper vans or other camping vehicles, from parking for more than one night there or in another part of Greystones. A night time stay should be defined for enforcement purposes as parking at 3 a.m.,’ they proposed.

District Clerk Myra Porter is going to talk to other councils and the matter will be considered again at the October meeting. Cllr Mitchell has said that some vans, with families in them, had been camping in the area for most of the summer.

‘I welcome visitor vans wanting to stay one night, but those staying longer need more facilities such as clothes drying and toilet emptying facilities which aren’t there,’ he said.
