LOOP WALK OPENING

Join Kilcoole Walkways for the official opening of Ballydonar­ea Loop Walk. Guests will walk part of the trail then enjoy a short presentati­on on the heritage and history of the walk at Ballydonar­ea House.

REDCROSS BEER FESTIVAL

The second Redcross Beer Festival will have almost 50 beers for guests to enjoy. There will also be music, a barbecue, and games in the beer hall.

ONE ACT DRAMA FESTIVAL

The centre opens its second One Act Drama Festival with performanc­es from Tinahely Variety Group and Coolgreany Drama Group. Pat Dixon will direct Tinahely’s production of Small Box Psychosis while Ned Dempsey takes the helm as the Coolgreany bring Tennessee Williams’s Talk to Me Like the Rain and Something Unspoken to the stage. Tickets, available from the Courthouse, cost €10 per night or €18 for both nights.

PJ GALLAGHER

The Dublin funnyman brings his latest show, ‘D**khead’, to the Mermaid. Tickets are available from the Mermaid and cost €20.

KARAOKE NIGHT

The centre’s second One Act Drama Festival draws to a close with Model Box Production­s performing Another Life by Derek Webb (directed by Kevin Duignan) and Kilmuckrid­ge Drama Group bringing The Bear by Anto Chekhov to life (directed by Marjorie Gahan).Tickets are available from the arts centre and cost €10 per night or €18 for both nights.

DINNER DANCE

Arklow Positive Ageing will celebrate Positive Ageing Week with their annual dinner dance, which is always a fun night out for all involved and will feature music by Pat Costello. Tickets cost €20.

As the end of Positive Ageing Week 2017 approaches, Arklow Positive Ageing invite their friends from far and near to join them for a cuppa and a spin around the dancefloor.

Singer and actress Honor Heffernan and composer/keyboard player Trevor Knight present their new cabaret-style show. Knight has transforme­d the poems of Dorothy Parker into songs performed by Heffernan, with the help of band members Garvan Gallagher (bass), Tom Jamieson (drums), Ed Deane (electric guitar), Ciaran Wilde (saxophone) and Bill Blackmore (horns). Tickets are available from the Courthouse and cost €16/€14.

Kiltegan Camogie Club host their main annual fundraiser in the beautiful grounds of Humewood Castle. Participan­ts are invited to ‘run wild in the castle’ during the 10k road race or 6k family walk/run. Registrati­on will be from 10 a.m. at St Peter’s Hall, Kiltegan and the cost of entry is: €10 for an adult, €5 for secondary school students, free for primary school pupils and €25 for a family.

RUT WATCH 2017

Wicklow’s large deer population are particular­ly impressive in autumn when they ‘rut’. National Park and Wildlife staff will have telescopes set up along The Spinc for anyone walking the trail to stop, view the deer and discuss the deer and their ecology with the staff. No dogs. Walkers are advised to visit the Informatio­n Office at the Upper Lake in Glendaloug­h for directions to the telescopes.

Rug, jog or walk this flat 3k race around the Wicklow seafront. All profits from this race will go back into the organisati­on of grassroots athletics in the county. Registrati­on will take place at 7 p.m. outside the Leitrim Lounge with the race starting at 7.30 p.m. Entry fee is €5.

MURDER AND MYSTERY DINNER
