Age Friendly care roadshow heading around the county

AN Age-Friendly Community Care roadshow has begun its tour of Co Wicklow and will visit different locations over the coming months.

The first stop was Baltinglas­s on Thursday last and this will be followed by workshops in The Martello in Bray tomorrow (October 5), the Arklow Bay Hotel on October 12, the Avon Rí in Blessingto­n on October 19, Tinahely Community Hall on October 26 and St Pat’s GAA Hall in Wicklow town on November 5. Each meeting will run from 7.30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The series of talks will involve Wicklow County Council, An Garda Siochana, Wicklow Fire Services and the HSE.

Sergeant John Gill, Crime Prevention Officer, Wicklow Garda Division, said: ‘It is part of the County Wicklow Age-Friendly Strategy and is a series of talks given by the Gardai, the HSE, fire service and Wicklow County Council.

‘If you can come out to show your support it would be greatly appreciate­d. If you are unable to attend, please encourage others. The talks will be geared towards the young and not so young with security, crime prevention and fire safety the universal themes, so all are welcome.’

Each meeting will be followed by the opportunit­y to have a chat over a cup of tea or coffee.
