Talks on Brexit preparatio­ns at free road show

BANK of Ireland’s ‘Prepare for Brexit Roadshow’ is coming to the Glenview Hotel on Thursday, October 5 at 12.30 p.m.

The Brexit roadshow will feature 35 events nationwide over the next two months to help support businesses to become informed and prepared for Brexit. Bank of Ireland has partnered with a number of industry bodies for the nationwide events including Enterprise Ireland, Bord Bia, IBEC and the British Irish Chamber of Commerce. The bank has also partnered with advisory firms KPMG, Deloitte, EY, PWC, Grant Thornton, BDO and Mazars.

Wicklow’s entreprene­urs and businesses are encouraged to attend this free event which will feature Kevin McPartlan Director of Prepared Consumer Foods, IBEC providing an overview of the range of outcomes from Brexit and the issues they and their members are facing.

BDO will outline best practice for implementa­tion of a Brexit Diagnostic tool and customer experience to date.

John Byrne from internatio­nal civil engineerin­g company Byrne Looby will discuss how they have assessed the impact Brexit could have on their business, mitigating actions taken by them and the benefits of preparatio­n in an uncertain environmen­t

Pierce Butler, Head of Sectors at Bank of Ireland will highlight relevant data and sectoral insights from internal research, and discuss how businesses can manage the challenges presented by Brexit and explore the potential business opportunit­ies.

Discussing the event, Bank of Ireland Head of Business Banking Wicklow, John Hackett said: ‘We have already conducted a number of events nationwide where we have been talking to our business customers about Brexit, so we know that companies in Wicklow are looking for additional advice and support. Regrettabl­y the process is both complex and uncertain and it is likely to be some time before clarity emerges. However, it is imperative that businesses anticipate a range of scenarios and devise plans to capitalise on potential opportunit­ies and mitigate possible risks. Our Brexit Roadshow event in Wicklow will provide insight and stimulus to enable companies better understand and prepare for this significan­t challenge.’
