Coollattin golfers shine
Coollattin Golf Club members, Joe Dempsey and Ted Kennedy were crowned 2017 winners of the All Ireland four-ball competition recently.
Joe is a five handicapper and Ted plays off seven.
Both men are well respected and renowned goalkeepers in the GAA, Ted in hurling, and Joe in Gaelic football.
The all Ireland four-ball is a national interclub competition. It is run over seven rounds and played as a four-ball match play competition.
The competition started in April with teams from sixty four clubs taking part. It is played on a provincial basis and the provincial winners play off in the semi-finals. The finals were played in Druids Heath Golf Club on Sunday 22nd September.
Having overcome stiff opposition from Antrim in the semi-finals Joe and Ted went on to beat Cork in the final.
A spokesman for Coollattin Golf Club said that this is a great achievement for Joe and Ted and also a great honour for the club. Every member of Coollattin Golf Club is delighted to have all Ireland champions as members of the club.
