Plans for a multi-million pound marina and leisure development for Greystones are to be unveiled publicly for the first time, later this month.
Isle of Man based promoters of the scheme Kirkham Enterprises Ltd are to give a formal presentation of their plans at a public meeting in the La Touche Hotel next Monday Week.
The subject of widespread speculation since it first emerged almost two years ago that a consortium led by supermarket baron Albert Gubay was proposing to develop a Greystones Marina project, the upcoming launch will be the first time for the company to go public.
The announcement was welcomed at a meeting of Greystones Town Commission this week, with Cllr George Jones saying that the upcoming meeting at the La Touche Hotel was obviously an indicator that the promoters were set to move ahead with the venture.
Wicklow County Council have acquired an extensive landbank at North Beach in Greystones for the development of a marina scheme, while Kirkham Enterprises have been involved in protracted negotiations with the Department of the Marine over the proposed cost of a foreshore licence for the project.
Together with a 300 berth marina and ancillary leisure amenities at North Beach, the promoters are also understood to be planning a 250 unit housing development on a site which they are acquiring from the local authority off Mill Road, Killincarrig.
