COUNTY FINAL

All roads will lead to Aughrim early on Sunday next when Enniskerry Junior Footballer­s take on the mighty Rathnew in the County Final. This young team have trained hard and will not lack guts an early start with a few scores will be needed against an experience­d side is needed. Hopefully the Village will be alive on Sunday night to welcome home the County Champions.

HURLING

Enniskerry/Kilmacanog­ue Junior Hurlers made it to County Final last weekend but were beaten by St Patrick’s of Wicklow.

Last night Powerscour­t Arms darts team had their final warm up for the Boro League which starts with a home game against the Willows. Good luck to Joe and his team for 2017/2018.

THE LATE CHRISTY BYRNE

Last week Enniskerry lost a lovely kind man at the age of 90 years, with the death of Christy Byrne of Monastery. May he rest in peace.

Daily Prayer and Open Church, midday and 5 p.m. each day: Powerscour­t Church has re-opened for daily prayer. This year there will be two times of prayer, midday and 5 p.m. with the church being open between those times for quiet space and personal prayer.

The Rosary: The Rosary is recited each morning (before Mass and Prayer Services) at 10 a.m.

Baptisms: Baptisms are now held on the second Saturday of the month in St Mary’s Church, Enniskerry, for parishione­rs only. Please arrange with parish office. Parishione­rs are asked to please give two weeks notice if you wish to book a baptism.

Monthly Rosary Group: Meets on the first Monday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Prayer Room in St Mary’s Church.

Legion of Mary – Kilmacanog­ue Presidium: Meet at 11.30 a.m. every Tuesday in the Sacristy of St Mochonog’s. New members are most welcome. Group recite the Rosary on the first Saturday of each month at midday at the Grotto in the church grounds. Click on the link legionofma­ry.ie to view website.

HISTORY SOCIETY

Tommy O’Rourke will open the 3-lecture autumn programme of the Enniskerry History Society at 8.30 p.m. on Thursday, October 12, in the Powerscour­t Arms and Country House Hotel in the Village, with his lecture on’ Hedge Schools in Wicklow.’ All welcome to attend – admission €5.
