CLOTHES COLLECTION

You can help raise funds for the Laragh National school. Over the next few weeks, as summer gives way to autumn we are asking you to gather up any clothes, shoes, bags etc. that you no longer use or need. Please try to fill a bag or two with your discarded items and bring them to the school before Monday, October 16. All donations most welcome.

CHRISTMAS FAIR

Our Christmas Fair in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh is on this year on December 10 with lots of special gifts. If you are interested in booking a stall at our popular and festive Christmas Fair or if you would like to perform music or entertain in the festive spirit at the fair call Michelle at the Brockagh Centre at 0404 45600 or email us at laraghit@eircom.net to request a booking form.

IRISH DANCING

Irish Dancing on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Classes cater for any age over three years and all levels including absolute beginners. Registered members of An Comhdhail, fully Garda Vetted and insured. AFTERNOON TEA DANCE

There will be a pre-Christmas tea dance coming up this year November 19. All groups must book in advance with the Brockagh Centre by calling us at 0404 45600. All are welcome with refreshmen­ts provided with a small cover charge.

FREE COMPUTER COURSE

A free five-week digital skills computer course will be coming soon (depending on no.s). Topics covered include online banking, apps, online government services, email, shopping online, online TV players, podcasts, photograph­s, security and much more.

This course is for beginners or someone who is rarely online and wants to up skill. Call the Brockagh Resource Centre at 0404 45600 or email laraghit@ eircom.net.

FLOWER CLASSES

A series of flower classes are being planned for the autumn at the Brockagh Centre. The sessions can cover everything from basic methods to modern designs for a variety of occasions. The teaching team will facilitate the requiremen­ts of the participan­ts and focus on the natural beauty of the surroundin­g countrysid­e. For more details, email maureenlar­agh@gmail.com.

PAEDIATRIC FIRST AID

The Brockagh Centre is delighted to be able to offer a fantastic evening of paediatric first aid on Monday, October 16 (7 p.m. to 9 p.m.). Run by the highly acclaimed ‘Parent First Aid’ company, this popular, informativ­e evening will cover all basic first aid required in the care of children including choking, burns, meningitis, breaks/fractures, CPR, bleeding and more. TIDY TOWNS

The next clean-up of the Laragh area is planned for Saturday October 7 at 11 a.m.

BASKET-MAKING

This full day, traditiona­l basket-making workshop will teach you basic basketry techniques. Taught in a relaxed learning en- vironment, you will bring home your own completed small round willow basket (a skib). The workshops will take place in the Brockagh Centre at various dates from now to December. Classes are small with five participan­ts. Garden workshop also available on request.

TAE KWON-DO

Teens, children and adults will enjoy Taekwon-Do, a Korean art of self-defence. Benefits include improving confidence, respect, discipline, awareness, concentrat­ion, channeling aggression, balance, coordinati­on, speed, reactions, fitness and health. Classes are on Tuesdays at 7.45 p.m. to 8.45 p.m. (seniors and teens). Children’s classes are on Tuesdays at 6 p.m. to 6.45 p.m. (4-7 years), 6.45 p.m. to 7.45 p.m. (8-12 years).

HAPPY DAYS

Happy Days baby and toddler drop in group is every Wednesday morning 10.30 – midday at the Brockagh Centre (break in July and Aug). Come for a social morning with crafts, Messy Play, music and activities such as teddy bears picnic, sing along song/ storytime and of course light refreshmen­ts are provided. GO FOR LIFE

Go for Life active retirement group enjoy getting together every Tuesday morning in the Brockagh Centre at 11 a.m. So if you fancy a chat, a cuppa and some light exercise come along on Tuesdays. For further informatio­n call the Brockagh Centre at 0404 45600 or drop in.
