10 Big Fun Inner City U2 released some of their best loved songs through the eighties, ‘New Year’s Day’, ‘Pride (In the Name of Love)’, ‘With Or Without You’, ‘I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For’ and ‘Where The Streets Have No Name’ among them. But, until ‘Desire’, not one of their 17 studio-recorded singles up to 1988 had hit the top spot in the UK. A number three hit in the US, ‘Desire’ – the lead single from ‘Rattle and Hum’ - won the Grammy for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal. In Ireland, ‘Desire’ is one of 21 number ones, and 44 top ten hits, for the Dublin band.
The Hollies1969 hit ‘He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother’ is in this top ten from 1988 as a result of the track’s re-release on the back of a Miller Lite TV commercial.
