Takeaway driver was robbed at knifepoint

Gardaí in Bray investigat­ing frightenin­g hold-up along with alleged assault and vandalism

A DELIVERY DRIVER was robbed at knifepoint in Bray last Friday – one of several incidents Bray gardaí have had to tackle in recent days.

On Friday night at 11 p.m. the takeaway driver was delivering food when a thief armed with a knife approached the car and demanded money, before making off on foot.

The following evening at approximat­ely 6 p.m., two teenagers were assaulted in the Novara Av- enue area by a gang of men wearing balaclavas. One of the injured teenagers was kept in hospital overnight suffering from concussion.

Meanwhile, there was outrage and disappoint­ment as a number of trees in the People’s Park were destroyed overnight. The discovery was made by locals on Sunday morning and reported to both gardaí and the council.

The driver was delivering takeaway food to Richmond Hill in Fassaroe.

When he pulled up and was still sitting in his car, he was approached and threatened by an attacker who was carrying a knife and demanded money.

The assailant took a sum of money from the driver, including his float and tips.

The incident occurred at around 11 p.m. on Friday.

The driver was not injured in the frightenin­g exchange. The thief made off on foot.
