THE WHISTLING GIRL

Singer and actress Honor Heffernan and composer/keyboard player Trevor Knight present their new cabaret-style show. Knight has transforme­d the poems of Dorothy Parker into songs performed by Heffernan, with the help of band members Garvan Gallagher (bass), Tom Jamieson (drums), Ed Deane (electric guitar), Ciaran Wilde (saxophone) and Bill Blackmore (horns). Tickets are available from the Courthouse and cost €16/€14.

SOCIAL DANCE

Jimmy Hogan will provide the music for this social dance in aid of Wicklow lifeboats. Entry is €10. Admission is €10.

Kiltegan Camogie Club host their main annual fundraiser in the beautiful grounds of Humewood Castle. Participan­ts are invited to ‘run wild in the castle’ during the 10k road race or 6k family walk/run. Registrati­on will be from 10 a.m. at St Peter’s Hall, Kiltegan and the cost of entry is: €10 for an adult, €5 for secondary school students, free for primary school pupils and €25 for a family.

RUT WATCH 2017

Wicklow’s large deer population are particular­ly impressive in autumn when they ‘rut’. National Park and Wildlife staff will have telescopes set up along The Spinc for anyone walking the trail to stop, view the deer and discuss the deer and their ecology with the staff. No dogs. Walkers are advised to visit the Informatio­n Office at the Upper Lake in Glendaloug­h for directions to the telescopes.

BRIDGE FUNDRAISER

A charity bridge night will be held as part of Maria Magee’s Strictly An Tochar fundraisin­g campaign. There will be a raffle, no partner is required and entry is €10.

KILBRIDE PARISH DANCE

HAZEL O’CONNOR

Hazel O’Connor performs with the celebrated Irish harpist Cormac de Barra. Her husky voice remains charged with passion and her enthusiasm, love of music, and wicked sense of humour, is ever present. Cormac de Barra is not only one of her co-writers, but has also been her musical partner. The combinatio­n of De Barra’s harp with Hazel’s unforgetta­ble voice is truly magical. TEXAS HOLD ‘EM

This Texas Hold ‘Em poker tournament will be a charity fundraiser for Rathdrum First Responders. Tickets cost €30 and there will be a maximum of three buy-ins at €10 each.

PULLED

Meet Amanda and Michelle as they retrace their drink-fuelled steps from the night before through a trail of Twitter, Facebook and selfies. Tickets, which are available from the Courthouse, cost €14 (€12 concession).

The late Garda Ciaran Jones will be remembered with a special Mass at 11 a.m. and memorial walk at noon. There will be a reception in the community hall at 2 p.m. once the walkers return.
