Sponsored walk for Lakers

Lakers Annual Sponsored Walk will take place on Saturday, October 14, in Glendalough.

There are three categories of walks and you can choose the one that is most suited to your level of fitness and come along and have some fun.

Walk A is climbing The Spinc, this is a is a medium to difficult hill walk, the distance is 9 Km and takes approx. 3 hours The start time for this walk is 12 midday, with registration at 11.30 a.m. and good walking gear is required.

Walk B is walking the Grey Road which is a lovely Woodland Walk with a slight incline. The distance is 4 km and will take approx. 1.5 to 2 hours. The start time is 1.30 p.m. registration from 1 p.m. and good walking gear is required.

Walk C is a very easy flat walk along the Green Road, this walk is wheelchair friendly. The distance is 3 km and will take no longer than 1 hour. The start time is 1.30 p.m. and registration from 1 p.m. All three walks commence from Glendalough Upper Lake Car Park by kind permission of National Parks and Wildlife Services.

Lakers Social & Recreational Club is a community-based sports, social and recreation club for children and adults with an intellectual disability. The club provides a wide range of sporting and educational services to its 280 members aged 5 to 75. The funds raised from this event will them to run their daily activities. Please note all three walks will take place regardless of the weather and there is a €4 charge per car for the car park so remember to bring some change.
