Jack does the trick for Coolboy against Pats

COOLBOY RANGERS ST PATRICK’S

the bar and out of danger, a great strike from Mc Donald with an even better save from Byrne.

Coolboy’s chances kept coming for the remainder of the first half, with the best chance again falling to Def Aointe but Pats defender Eoin Mc Avoy managed to get back and put a tackle in before the striker could get his shot off.

Pats came out in the second half looking for a quick goal as they were frustrated to be going in at half time at 0-0 after being the better of the two sides for the majority of the first half. Pats almost got the first goal of the game on the 34th minute when Liam Murphy took a strike from the edge of the box, but his shot hit the underside of the cross bar and bounced back off the line. It wasn’t long before the away side grabbed the first of the game, Rory Jenson made a great run from halfway line before getting a shot off, keeper Ciaran Lambert did manage to get a hand to it but couldn’t keep the shot out and flew over his head and into the net, a great solo goal from the Pats striker to make it 1-0.

Ten minutes later Coolboy grabbed one back with an absolute superb piece of skill from Rua Def Aointe, Shane O’Connor delivered a corner kick to the back post and Def Aointe was first to react and produced a brilliant bicycle kick to equalise. A great bit of skill from the Coolboy striker.

Things got better and better for the hosts five minutes before full time when Jack Defan went unchallenged and beat Pats keeper Niall Byrne to put his side in front with not long left for a reply from their opponents.

A great competitive game from both sides, although St Pats may feel disappointed to go away with nothing after a great first half from the travelling side. Coolboy were strong in defence and didn’t give their opponents much opportunities in the final third.
