History lecture
It has been announced that Dr Patrick Wallace will deliver the next autumn lecture for the Kilmacanogue History Society. Titled ‘The History of the National Museum’, it will take place at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 7, in the Glenview Hotel.
In 1974, at the age of 25, Dr Wallace was given responsibility for the Wood Quay excavations. He was appointed Director of the National Museum of Ireland in 1988, a post which he held till his retirement in 2012. Everyone is welcome and the society look forward to seeing you all on the night.
On a separate note, The Enniskerry History Society wish to remind us that their next lecture is scheduled for 8.30 p.m. on Thursday, October 12, at the Powerscourt Arms Hotel. Tommy O’Rourke will speak on ‘The Hedge Schools of Wicklow’.
