Council to mend damaged road barrier

-

A barrier at the stretch of road between Bray and Enniskerry is damaged again after being repaired several times.

The District Engineer of Bray Municipal District is aware of the damage and is seeking quotes for the remedial works.

The barrier at the 21 bends can be prone to accidents because the road can be slick due to rain, leaves and early morning ice.

The barrier on the R117 has been badly damaged recently, with one support missing and the others bucked and compromised and the main barrier rail damaged and buckled.

The barrier in question is on top of a steep embankment over the Glencullen River where Annalise Fortune and Peter Neill lost their lives 12 years ago. Their vehicle went off the road and down a 12-foot drop to the river.
