- By MARY FOGARTY

A Bray woman performed on the Late Late Show last Friday night in a bid for a place at the forthcoming World Karaoke Championships in Helsinki. Trish O’Sullivan sang ‘Proud Mary’ to achieve runner-up in the show last weekend. ‘It was brilliant from start to finish,’ she said. ‘I enjoyed every minute of it.’

Trish said that everyone involved was very nice and welcoming throughout the experience.

‘Ryan Tubridy was so sweet, and all the producers,’ she said. ‘ They made me feel so comfortable. It was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had.’

Trish had sung Proud Mary in a previous heat in the Red Cow to get her to the stage where she was on the RTE programme.

She also sang ‘You Know I’m Know Good’ by Amy Winehouse previously.

Trish has been singing for years, in particular with Ger Fitz Karaoke, now in the Boomarang each week. She has been singing at Ger’s Karaoke for the past 17 years.

While she didn’t win, Trish was a fantastic runner up and said that not proceeding wouldn’t put her down. ‘My dad has always told me, no matter how many times you get knocked down, get up again.’

Trish has three children aged 11, 10 and five. She was so proud to get to go on TV and show them what their mum can do.

They enjoyed a party at home and re-watched the video of the performance together.

‘ Thank you to Ger Fitzimons and the Boomerang who have supported me all the way through, and especially my partner Steve,’ said Trish. BRAY Tidy Towns are calling for volunteers at the Dart Station garden on Saturday, October 28.

They are planning to put bulbs down and week the area. Volunteers are asked to attend at 10.30 a.m.

Work is continuing on the station with a lot of work such as painting, finishing off of some of the mosaics, adding of poetry boards, removal of waste and unsightly machinery, fixing of broken doors and the removal of redundant wiring and flags being carried out by Irish Rail.

Some trees will also be planted in the future.
