Man ‘overdid it’ after prison release

-

A MAN who went out and got intoxicated after being released from prison and behaved aggressively towards gardaí was brought before Gorey District Court last Wednesday.

Daniel Nangle of 29 Heatherwood, Bray, was in custody and had taken three bench warrants. The charge related to an incident at 3.10 a.m. on August 28 of last year at Main Street, Gorey, which saw him behave aggressively towards gardaí.

A fixed charge penalty notice was issued but wasn’t paid. The court heard that Nangle had 31 previous convictions incudling robbery and burglary offences for which he received jail time.

Solicitor Lana Doherty said that her client had only been released from prison and, as he hadn’t drank for a long time, his tolerance was lower than he thought.

He ‘overdid it’ and had too much to drink she said. After hearing all the evidence, Judge Gerard Haughton handed Nangle a €100 fine. A VISIT to her sister in New Ross led to a public order conviction for Hazel Hennessy (24) of 32 Murrell Drive, Arklow.

The accused woman was discovered intoxicated and highly agitated at North Quay, New Ross, on April 6 last year.

Hennessy was given every op- portunity to leave the area by Garda Michelle Power before she was eventually arrested for her own safety.

On Tuesday October 10, the District Court in Wexford was informed that Ms Hennessy had a substance abuse problem which has been addressed.
