CONYARD SHINES!

-

before unloading off the outside of his right boot and the ball sailed over the crossbar. Conyard turned and leaped high and punched the air with delight. He knew there was no going back now.

Willie Quaile cut the lead to one but the last word went to Wayne O’Gorman. In a move started by Trevor Conyard, Ashford worked the ball up the field only for Keith Peppard to blow for overcarrying. Tinahely worked the ball to Willie Quaile who tried to handpass out of danger but who was there to intercept only Conyard and his high ball to O’Gorman looked to be gathered by Tony Lacey but O’Gorman robbed the ball and hoofed it over the bar for the insurance score.

A worthy victory for Ashford. Tinahely will look to wides and a poor second half as the cause of their downfall.

Ashford can thank Trevor Conyard for a mighty shift and O’Gorman and ‘Trapper’ for their experience and intelligence and not forgetting the golden boot of one Danny ‘Trophy Magnet’ Byrne as the main ingredients in a dramatic victory!
