The Magpies get back to winning ways

Newtown United got back to winning ways as they overcame Rathnew AFC 4-1 at the Matt Kelly Memorial Grounds on Sunday.

Ryan Cahill bagged a double for the Magpies, with Neilly Martin and Oisan Greenan also hitting the back of the net for the winners, and Jason Devlin replying for the Village.

Kaelin Broughan plundered the only goal of the game as Ashford Rovers eked out a win over Dynamo Dublin FC at the Phoenix Park.

Edwin Walker (two), David Kavanagh and Glen Murray got the goals for Arklow Celtic as they saw off FC Locomotiv 4-1 at Celtic Park.

Meanwhile, Carnew AFC continued their impressive form with a 4-0 win over St Peter’s, thanks to goals from James Behan (two), Adam Doyle and Conall McCrea (see focus match), while Tallaght City beat Park Orient by the same scoreline.

Pat O’Toole Division 1

Glencormac travelled to take on Arklow United in the Pat O’Toole Division 1 on Sunday and returned with three points in the bag following a 3-0 triumph.

Nathan Watters opened the scoring and Simon Doyle added a double to give the Glens a 3-0 lead at the break, and they held that advantage to the final whistle.

St Patrick’s AFC and Ashford Rovers shared the spoils after a 1-1 draw, with Adam Browne firing the hosts in front and Seán Beale grabbing the equaliser for Rovers.

Richard Murphy and Reece Kelly got on the scoresheet for Wicklow Town, but they lost out 3-2 to Templeogue United, while Rathnew FC were beaten 5-3 by Bohs Supporters Club.

Elsewhere, Knockmitte­n United overcame Old Court Celtic 8-6 in a goal-fest.

Division 3

Luke Walker’s double helped Arklow United to a 3-1 win away to Aughrim Rangers in their Division 3 clash on Sunday.

Keith Walsh got the other goal for the winners, with James Byrne hitting the back of the net for Aughrim.

Kevin O’Regan bagged both goals for Arklow Celtic as they won 2-1 at the Back Alley, with John Kavanagh replying for Carnew AFC, while Dearg Celtic beat Shamrock Celtic by the odd goal in five.

Elsewhere, Stephen Roche helped himself to a hattrick and Jimmy Davis added to their tally as Conary United beat Ballywaltr­im 4-0, and Wicklow Town won 4-2 away to Avonmore (see focus matches).

LFA Youths Cup Round 1

Avonmore FC certainly had their shooting boots on at the weekend as they overpowere­d Wicklow Rovers A 9-0 in the first round of the LFA Youths Cup.

Oisin McGraynor helped himself to four goals, with Dale Fluskey, Mark Cullen, Ross Ward, Ryan Kenny and Eric Olohan adding one apiece.
