MASS OF REMEMBRANC­E

Our annual Mass of Remembranc­e Service of Light will be on Saturday, November 4, at 6 p.m. This Mass is for parishione­rs, who died between September 15, 2016, and September 14, and whose funerals took place from either Roundwood or Moneystown Church.

LOURDES PILGRIMAGE

There will be a pilgrimage to Lourdes from Roundwoodi­n September, 2018. Names and €200 deposit before January 15, 2018, to Susan at 087 6273032. A pilgrimage to Knock will be on Divine Mercy Sunday, April 8, 2018. More on both pilgrimage­s at a later date.

MAYO MUSIC WEEK

Please note that the bus for Mayo music week will leave Roundwood Parish Hall on Sunday, October 22,107 at 9 a.m.

JUVENILE HANDBALL

Handball training for primary school children resumed on Thursday, October 12, in Annamoe community centre at 6.45 p.m. to 7.45 p.m. for children aged eight to 12 years. For further informatio­n call in on the evening or contact Oliver Donelon at 087 9040535 or Andrew Muldowney at 087 0510104.

SALE OF WORK

After a short break the annual SALE OF WORK is back again this year in Aras An Tochar on December 3 from 12 4 p.m. All donations for the various stalls will be gratefully accepted and can be left with Maureen in the parish office between 9.30 and 1 p.m.

CANDLE LIGHT WALK

A family fun Halloween Candle light walk will take place on Sunday, October 29, at 5.30 p.m. Registrati­on and Start from Roundwood AFC Clubhouse. Refreshmen­ts available, fancy dress essential, €10 per family. This promises to be a fun event so do come along.

MATHS LESSONS

Rebecca Delamere will be running maths classes for Secondary School students in Roundwood Parish Hall. Classes will be available for first to sixth year students and are designed to focus on common areas that students struggle with. Guaranteed small class sizes and places are limited. CAR BOOT BAZAAR

A date for your diary. – Roundwood Golf Society – annual table quiz Night In aid of Roundwood senior citizens Christmas party will take place in Kavanagh’s Vartry House on Friday, October 27, at 8.30 p.m. Your support will be appreciate­d. WALKING CLUB

The Roundwood Whizzers Walking Group are back in action every Wednesday evening meeting at 7 p.m. at the Coach House car park. Everyone welcome to walk at your own pace for approximat­ely one hour in and around Roundwood village.

LOTTO RESULTS

There was no winner of this week’s lotto. The numbers drawn were 4, 6, 15 and 25 There were five match winners Michael Keogh, C, S E & M Curley, Sharon Keogh, Brendan Molloy and Ciara and Eamo. Next week’s jackpot will be €16,000.

IRISH MUSIC CLASSES

Learn traditiona­l Irish music and dance with an award-winning Comhaltas branch (guitar, fiddle, flute, tin whistle and grúpa ceoil). Classes are held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday nights in St Laurence O’Toole NS, Roundwood the first term is from September to January while the second term is from January to May. MENS SHED

As per usual the shedders meet every Tuesday from 10 a.m. onwards at Pat Carr’s place in Knockrahee­n. You will be assured of a very warm welcome if you feel like coming along.

At our recently held AGM, Robbie Scott, our most senior member assumed the role of chairperso­n. He was the unanimous choice. Because of corporate governance he will have to vacate the chair after three years. Robbie jokingly remarked that he was giving no guarantees that he would be around to fulfill his full term. John Gilmartin agreed to fulfill the role of treasurer while Arthur Hall continues to fulfill the role of secretary.

002 BRIDGE CLUB

Taking first place on Friday, October 6, for North/South were Monica Brady and June Digby, second Rachel Judd and Molly Byrne, third Marian Davies and Teresa Leahy. First East/West Maria Magee and Rowena Brady, second Liz Belton and Phil Kenna and third Miriam Coyle and Kitty Heslin.

Friday the 13th was not unlucky for Monica Brady and June Digby as they took first place once again for North/South, second Ger Lenihan and Paddy O’Brien, third Catherine McGillycud­dy and Nancy O’Brien. First East/West Liz Belton and Phil Kenna, second Rowena Brady and Judy Skates and third Bridie Nolan and Jim Mcnamara.

DIAMOND BRIDGE CLUB

Playing their cards right on Monday, October 2, for North/ South were Nancy O’Brien and Monica Brady, second Margaret Byrne and Kay Plunkett, third Clare O’Connor and Catherine Halligan. East/West joint first/ second were Teresa Leahy, Marian Davies and Rachel Judd and Molly Byrne, third Bridie Nolan and Brid Clancy.

Nancy O’Brien took first place once again on Monday, October 9, this time with Phil Power, second Brid Clancy and Catherine Halligan and third Judy and Rowena Brady. East/west first Teresa Leahy and Marian Davies, second Miiriam Coyle and Mary Brown, and third Monica Brady and Paddy O’Brien.

Anne-Marie Morris and Maria Magee would like to thank everyone who supported their bridge nights in aid of Strictly and both Roundwood clubs would like to wish them both all the best in the competitio­n on Saturday night, Keep Dancing Girls.

45 CARD GAME

A 45 Card Game takes place every Tuesday night in Moneystown Community Centre starting at a new time of 8.30 p.m. Tea served.

SET DANCING

Roundwood set dancing continues every Thursday night from 9 p.m. till 11 p.m. in Kavanagh’s Lounge, Roundwood. Music this month with the O’Kane family. Admission remains at €5. Beginners are always welcome along with anyone looking for a bit of exercise and a fun night out.

Roundwood Home Producers Market is open every Sunday from midday till 5 p.m. in the Parish Centre. Come for all your fresh bread, home baking, jams etc. There will also be pictures, home crafts, plants and more. We look forward to seeing you all. New members always welcome.
