GAA CLUB NOTES

Congratulations to Aughrim camogie club on their great achievement in winning the County Junior B camogie championship last weekend. Their under-13 s followed on this weekend when they beat Avondale to win out the county under-13 B autumn Cup Final. This makes a Hat trick of county titles as earlier in September they the under-16 team won the B Championship. This augurs well for the future of the club and are setting a high standard for the lads to follow.

Commiserations to Shaun Doyle and Pierce Lawlor, who were part of the Luke O’Toole’s under-17 team that lost out narrowly to Baltinglass in the county final last Sunday.

We would like to wish our under-13 football team who have topped their group and have qualified for the county final every success on the day. As a club we need to get behind this group of talented players and give all the support we can to them in the final.

Our race night is coming up next Saturday the 21st in Joe O’Toole’ s, this promises to be a good social night and we need every one to support same.

JUVENILE GAA

Aughrim under-13s are having a great year; they had a fantastic league campaign finishing second in Division II, before going on to top their group in the championship winning all their games to qualify for the County B Final. This is the first Aughrim Juvenile Football team in a long number of years to contest a County Final in a championship and is a tremendous achievement for the lads. Hopefully we can conclude the season with a win. We wish the boys the best of luck in the final. We await the result of a playoff to see who our opponents will be the final is currently fixed for Monday, October 30, so please keep an eye out for time and give this young team the support they deserve.

Commiserations to Pierce Lawlor and Shaun Doyle, who were on the loosing Luke O’Toole’s team that went down to a very strong Baltinglass team in the minor final on Sunday last, and also to the Derry Gaels under-15 team who lost out to An Tochar in the B Championship semi-final. The Derry Gaels did mark the year with winning the Division 2 league, but just fell short against a well drilled An Tochar team on the night.
