Glendaloug­h walks to raise money for Lakers activities

Walkers enjoyed the idyllic views of Glendaloug­h recently, taking on varying routes all in support of Lakers.

Lakers Social and REcreation­al Club is a community-based sports, social and recreation club for children and adults with an intellectu­al disabiliti­es.

Members, their families, staff, supporters and friends of Lakers made their way to Glendaloug­h to stretch their legs.

THere were three categories of walk for different levels of fitness.

They include Th Spinc at 9 km, the Grey Road at 4km, and the very easy and wheelchair friendly Green Road.

It was a wonderful day out for everyone. The club provides a wide range of sporting and educationa­l services to its 280 members aged 5 to 75. The funds raised from this event will help the club to run its daily activities.

Activities include everything from drama, music and pottery, to football, swimming and even skiing.

Other activities include golf, cooking, dancing, martial arts, athletics and more.

The club is affiliated to Special Olympics Ireland and competes in fourteen different individual and team sports.
