WITCH TRIALS COME TO LIFE

SQUARE ONE THEATRE GROUP IS BRINGING THE WITCH HUNTS OF THE 17TH CENTURY TO THE STAGE. MARY FOGARTY REPORTS

-

THE CRUCIBLE, by Arthur Miller, is a dramatised and partially fictionalised story of the infamous Salem witch trials.

The play was written in 1953 in the wake of the McCarthy hearings that aimed to root out communists in the USA.

The witch trials took place in the Massachusetts Bay Colony of Salem between 1692 and 1693. This play continues to affect audiences by allowing them to see how dark desires and hidden agendas can be played out. It is a classic American drama brought to life in this vivid production.

The play will be on from Tuesday, November 7, until Saturday, November 11, nightly at 7.30 p.m.
