Wicklow’s Ida wins Early Educator of the Year Award
IDA Lane of Treasure’s Montessori in Wicklow town won the Canavan Byrne Early Educator of the Year Award at the tenth annual Boots Maternity and Infant Awards which took place at the Royal Marine Hotel, Dun Laoghaire.
The awards recognise inspirational people and commends and celebrates the very best products for parents and babies in Ireland.
Ida was nominated a number of times, including a nomination from the parents of Poppy Mernagh. Poppy was paralysed from the neck down by a rare virus and requires 24 hours care. Ida made it happen through liaising with a whole host of professionals and organisations and adapted her school accordingly, including her own family space.
This year’s Child Hero of the Year was Molly Byrne of Cellbridge, Kildare, for the bravery she has displayed since being diagnosed she was born with a rare genetic condition called OFD Type 1.
