HURLING/SHINTY

-

TWO Wicklow hurlers were heavily involved in their national teams last weekend in the Hurling/Shinty Internationals in Bught Park in Inverness.

St Patrick’s GAA Club star Andy O’Brien featured for the Ireland Senior side while Christy Moorehouse was named at 11 for the under-21 side.

Both men performed very well on the day with Andy O’Brien firing over a superb point in the opening half of Ireland’s clash with the Scots.

O’Brien’s Senior side lost out to Scotland for the second year in a row, going down by 2-12 to 0-15, while Christy Moorehouse tasted sweet success in the Irish jersey when he helped the under-21s to victory in the opening game on a score of 5-4 (19) to 2-9 (15).

Their selection caps a fine year for both men with the small ball.
