WITH Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny to visit before Wicklow plan their journey to Tullamore, the Leinster championsh­ip draw understand­ably isn’t dominating John Evans’ thoughts at the moment.

Facing a Division 3 side will be tough. Wicklow did at least avoid Division 2’s Louth but could have a clash with fellow Division 4 outfit Laois or Carlow to look forward to either.

Evans knows the opposition won’t be easy and an away fixture is never preferable but he has many mountains to conquer before he contemplat­es toppling the Faithful County.

“T’is a tough assignment from where we’re standing because we’ve a whole new management team to put in place and looking at new players so from where we’re standing at the moment it’s like seven years away rather than seven months. It’s such a long time.

“I think it’s good (making the draw in advance) because it focusses the players’ minds on what’s ahead. It’s a good idea because it gives an incentive and the standard that you’ve to rise to. It gives a focus and a purpose but it’s such a long time away. I
