Three Taize Evenings: An open invitation to come, away to the quiet, for 30 minutes of silent reflection, tonight (Wednesday), on Wednesday, November 29, and Wednesday, December 20, at 8.30 p.m. in Holy Redeemer Church.

Mass Cards: Signed Mass Cards are looked after by the priests of the parish and are available only in the parish office or in the sacristy.

Scoil Chualann: Scoil Chualann Bray is celebratin­g 40 years this year. To mark this occasion, they are organising a dinner dance on Saturday, November 11, in the Summerhill House Hotel Enniskerry. Feast of All Saints – Wednesday, November 1: Masses as on Sunday – Vigil Mass on Tuesday, October 31, at 7 p.m.

Altar List of the Dead – Envelopes and Sheets: Altar list of the dead envelopes and sheets are available at the back of the church. All, whose names are listed will be remembered at Masses on the feast of All Saints, the feast of All Souls, and at the 9.30 a.m. Mass on the First Monday of each month throughout the year. On Tuesday, November 14, at 7.30 p.m. we will remember all of our parishione­rs who have died during the past year.

St Fergal’s Gospel Choir: St Fergal’s Gospel Choir are looking for a keyboard player, and for new members. Gospel music is uplifting and inspiring. So, if you are interested in joining the group please leave your contact details at the parish office. Many Thanks.

Parish Cake Sale: Our next Cake Sale will be held after all the Masses this weekend.

Parish Christmas Cards: Packs of assorted Parish Christmas Cards are available to purchase in the church after all Masses and the parish office. €4 for six cards. Those, who receive the cards will be remembered in the Christmas Masses being offered in the parish.

St Fergal’s Christmas Raffle 2017 – Great Prizes to be won.: First Prize – 32’ Walker – Flat Screen TV; second prize – Limited Edition Giclée Print by Peter Growney; third prize – Powerscour­t Golf Club four Ball Green Fees Voucher; fourth prize – €100 Gift Bond for Whelan’s Craft Butchers; fifth prize – Luxury Christmas Hamper; sixth prize – six Bottles of Wine plus many more prizes. Memorial Plates: It has been a long church tradition to have a plate fitted to a seat in memory of a loved one. Full details regarding such plates are available from the parish office. (€250 donation towards the running costs of our Church).

Welcome to Eucharisti­c Adoration: We invite you to commit to one hour per week. If you currently attend but are not signed up, we would encourage you to become part of the official rota as we need to ensure that each hour is covered. Signing up is easy. There are cards and informatio­n at the special display at the back of the church. Please fill in one of the cards and leave it in the box provided.

Annual Remembranc­e Mass: Our annual Remembranc­e Mass for all who have died during the past year will take place this year on Saturday, November 11, at 6.30 p.m. in our Church. All those who have suffered a bereavemen­t are very welcome to attend. Light refreshmen­ts will be served afterwards in the Villa Pacis.

Protection of Mothers and Unborn Life: We would like to invite you to say a Rosary and silent prayer in the presence of Jesus every Tuesday from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. in our Church.

QOP YOUTH CLUB

Queen of Peace Adventure Youth Club annual quiz was well run by young members Sarah, Amy, and Elaine. The event was much enjoyed by the forty-five members present. Club events in the near future include Halloween Party, Big Sugarloaf night climb, bowling, Glen of the Downs night walk, swimming, and football.

DIVING CLUB

Bray Divers members Ann, Mi- chelle, Dave McKeon, Jack Hickey and Albert have returned from another very successful diving trip in Lanzarote. Diving depths ranged down to 30 metres with underwater visibility around 40 metres. Some of the underwater wildlife observed included octopus, cuttlefish, barracuda, angel sharks, and lots more. Jack did the paper work of signing in and clocking out the divers for each dive, and as usual he had the greatest number of dives during the trip.

Next up will be a visit to Portroe Slate Quarry dive centre near Nenagh. The club will begin a new divers course later this month, and informatio­n regarding participat­ion is available by calling 087 6756439.

FIVE ARTISTS FOR FIVE LOAVES

WH Five Loaves would like to extend an invitation to you, to the launch of our new project Five Artists For Five Loaves this Saturday at 6 p.m. in the Mermaid Gallery, Civic Centre. Guest Speaker: Fr Peter McVerry. The idea is that five local artists have come together with W.H Five Loaves to produce a unique set of multipurpo­se greeting cards using the artists own work, these will be available for purchase on the night and on an ongoing basis thereafter.

BRAY LIBRARY

Bray Library opening hours are – Monday/Wednesday/ Friday/Saturday – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday – 10 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. Borrowers are reminded that books can be renewed by phone – call 01 2862600. The library will be closed this Saturday and next Monday due to the October Bank Holiday weekend.

BALLYWALTR­IM LIBRARY

Branch opening hours are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. And 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

And 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays. The library is closed on Mondays and Fridays. Borrowers are reminded that books can be renewed by phone – call 01 2723205. The library will be closed this Saturday due to the October Bank Holiday weekend.

CUALANN SOCIETY

Last Thursday night Vandra Costello was the guest speaker for the October meeting of the Bray Cualann Historical Society, the local history society for Bray and North Wicklow, at 8 p.m. in the Royal Hotel, Bray at which she presented her lecture ‘Irish Demesne Landscapes 1660-1740.’

Prior to the lecture Brian White give a short presentati­on on the life of Josephine Heffernan, who served as a nurse in France in 1917 and her connection­s to at least three Bray families, Smyth, Matthews and Allen.

Pádraig Laffan will recall ‘The Desperate Fight to Save the Harvest of 1946 and the Severe winter of 1946/47’ at the Thursday, November 16, meeting at 8 p.m. in the Royal Hotel, Main Street, Bray, Co. Wicklow. All Welcome – Visitors €5.

While there are no meetings in the Royal Hotel in December, on Thursday, December 7, James Scannell will present a talk ‘Christmas 1942 in Bray’ at 11.30 a.m. in Ballywaltr­im Library, Boghall Road, Bray. All welcome – admission free. The following day, Friday, December 8, James will present a his talk ‘Christmas 1917 in Bray’ at 11.30 a.m. in Bray Library, Eglinton Road, Bray. All welcome – admission free.

BRIDGE
